Taking care of your back should be done on a daily basis. We put our backs through so much each and every day, and thankfully for the most part, it continues to do what we ask. However, pain will eventually occur in the form of sciatic pain, and relief of sciatica pain can be quick depending upon the severity of your personal situation. When this happens, it should be a signal to make changes and take better care of your health.
A quick relief of sciatica pain can be found through exercises. Exercises are an excellent way to reduce the pain to the point that one can continue on through their day. Any exercise can be helpful; although some can increase the pain. Because of this, it is important to discuss your concerns with your chiropractor, doctor or other certified/licensed provider. For most of us, we know when we hurt our back we are probably going to experience some type of pain. There are times, however, that other medical issues can cause back pain.
When the need for relief of sciatica pain is needed, a review to determine the cause of the pain should be made and not assumed; especially when you are not sure what happened to your back. Once the correct diagnosis has been given then the appropriate exercise regimen can be assigned. Sciatic pain can be light to so severe that it completely halts one in their tracks. The types of relief for light pain will be different than those who have severe or even chronic pain.
Not only will a particular set of exercises be assigned to you to obtain relief of sciatica pain, you will also be told to refrain from causing further harm to your back by refraining from heavy lifting or other movements that can cause a greater amount of stress to your back and the sciatic nerve. We all do get in a hurry and may not sit or lift a box correctly. Many times our posture causes our backs to hurt. When sitting, support the lower back with a small pillow and use a foot rest to place your legs into a more ergonomic and healthy position. Don’t lean forward and don’t slouch your shoulders. Did you know you can have poor posture when sleeping? More often than not you wake up with your back hurting, and you think that it’s because of an old mattress. However, if it’s not and you sleep on your side, then sleep with a small pillow between the knees.
Sitting or standing for long periods can also be a cause of back pain. To prevent these long periods, take short ergo breaks and do several simple and gentle stretches every 30 to 60 minutes. When sitting, keep your head up and don’t lean on one elbow. When standing, take turns and shift your weight from one foot to the other.
Finding relief of sciatica pain can be found in a number of processes or treatments, and each one will help to a certain extent. However, paying attention to how we move is possibly the biggest preventive measure one can take. The sciatic pain can cause a great deal of pain, and no one should have to suffer any longer than they have to.
